EMERGENCY: POLICE, FIRE or AMBULANCE
Call Triple Zero (000)
Triple Zero (000) is Australia's primary telephone number to call for Police, Fire or Ambulance for life-threatening or time-critical emergency situations.
You can dial '000' on any mobile phone, even if the screen is locked.
EMERGENCY NUMBER FROM A MOBILE PHONE
Call One-One-Two (112)
Dialling '112' on a mobile phone directs you to the same national Triple Zero (000) call service. It allows your phone to bounce off any phone tower whether the tower belongs to your phone company or another.
A National operator will take your call.
Help them direct you to the correct State:
Australian Capital Territory (ACT)
New South Wales (NSW)
Northern Territory (NT)
Queensland (QLD)
South Australia (SA)
Tasmania (TAS)
Victoria (VIC)
Western Australia (WA)
and to the correct Service:
Police
Fire
Ambulance
If you need more than service, just pick one. The State operator will organise the other service when you describe the emergency.
EXAMPLE
When the operator answers the call, just say:
"South Australia Police"
"Tasmania Fire", or
"New South Wales Ambulance."
You call will immediately be forwarded to a State operator to inform them of your emergency.
